Our organising and practice of land based care, was made alongside community in the Downtown Eastside of so-called Vancouver on ancestral, shared, unceded and occupied lands of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Səl̓ílwətaʔ, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm peoples.
After thirteen years of operations as a Non-Profit Society, through a five year process of Community Engaged Governance, we have decided to close as a non-profit organisation.
Please visit our reports page to learn more about this process.
As we bring this non-profit structure to a close in 2025, we reflect on the relationships and values that have held us in the work, the ways we have grown alongside the Healing Garden on the 100 block, which we have stayed tethered to throughout the life of the Non-Profit, and which exists beyond the non-profit’s life.
Thank you for being here, over all the years and today: we know that Hives has meant many different things to many different people, and we lay it to rest with love, care and respect.
